South African batter Ryan Rickelton made history during the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 by becoming the first-ever wicket keeper-batter to score a century in the tournament. Playing against Afghanistan in Karachi, Rickelton reached his maiden ODI century in 101 balls, marking a special milestone in his career.
The 28-year-old left-hander, who has been in outstanding form in 2025, built a crucial 129-run partnership with captain Temba Bavuma (58 off 76 balls) for the second wicket. His previous best ODI score was 91 against Ireland in October 2024.

Ryan Rickelton's past performance
Rickelton, who recently smashed 259 runs in a Test match against Pakistan, made an immediate impact in his ICC Champions Trophy debut by opening the innings and guiding South Africa to a strong position in their first match of the tournament.
At the moment, South Africa stand at 265/4 after 45 overs. Rickelton scored 103 off 106 balls, while Bavuma added 58 runs.
