India-Philippines: Indo-Philippines Cultural Education Exchange Summit was held at Gullas College of Medicine as part of celebrations to mark 75 years of Philippines-India diplomatic relations. The GCMI Auditorium, located at Gov. M. Cuenco Ave., Banilad, Mandaue City, Philippines, hosted an event with the theme "A Union Fostering Global Connections: Integrating Education, Healthcare, Culture, and Tourism for a Sustainable Future."

The summit was graced by Honourable Excellency Harsh Kumar Jain, Ambassador of India to the Philippines, and former President of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Other dignitaries present were ambassadors from Nigeria and Thailand, and former Chairperson Eleanor B. Almoro of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

"The Indo-Philippines relationship is founded on mutual respect, common values, and shared vision of progress," H.E. Harsh Kumar Jain, ambassador of India to the Philippines, said. Plans like the Indo-Philippines Cultural Education Exchange Summit consolidate our educational cooperation, cooperation on health, and cooperation on culture as we celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations. The inauguration of the Thiruvalluvar statue at Gullas Medical College is a testament to our respect for wisdom and knowledge.

It also featured the unveiling of the Thiruvalluvar Statue, a tribute to the great Tamil poet and philosopher. Cultural performances by Lanhing Batangan Dance Troupe and Sakhyam Dance Academy were the peak highlight as well. Ambassador Harsh Kumar Jain emphasized in his words the imperative of mutual respect, mutual values, and shared vision towards pursuing the Indo-Philippines relations.

Gullas College of Medicine Chief Executive Consultant Dr. David K. Pillai has also made reference to this. "The recent Senate-tabled reforms that permit students from any nation to practise medicine in the Philippines mark a significant milestone, particularly for Indian medical aspirants, as the Philippines has established itself as a top destination for students seeking top-notch medical education. I have no doubt that this would give talented Indian students new opportunities, enhancing academic relationships and setting the stage for future success in medical education."

Additionally, Mr. Kadwin Pillai, CEO of Transworld Educare Pvt Ltd and Kings International Ltd, stated: "We are grateful that the Philippines offers prospective Indian students top-notch medical education. Due to the Philippines' excellent academic standards and student-friendly laws, the number of Indian students selecting the country over other nations for medical study has increased by 25% in recent years.
