Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Bigg Boss 18 contestant Tajinder Bagga slammed filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan for her comment on Holi on Celebrity MasterChef recently. She stirred a controversy after saying that Holi is the 'favourite' festival of 'chhapris', a slang often used to describe rowdy young men.

Reacting to her remarks, Bagga took to his official social media accounts to share a video in which he demanded an apology from Farah.

"The statement given by Farha Khan that Holi is the festival of Chhapris, I feel that targeting Indian culture and festivals has become the most important work of these Chhapris. I feel that Farha ji, you are the biggest Chhapri. We have been celebrating Holi for many years and many centuries, and people of India celebrate Holi and Diwali well, but some Chhapris like you come and try to defame it."

He added, "That's why you should apologise to Indian people. You should apologise for saying that Holi is a festival of Chhapris."

Along with the video, he wrote, "Shameful statement by @TheFarahKhan. Targeting Indian culture and festivals has become a soft target for people like Farah Khan."

Farah Khan's Holi statement controversy

As soon as videos of Farah's statement surfaced online, social media erupted with criticism. Many users slammed her for generalising and demanded an apology, while some even called for action to be taken against her.

On the other hand, a section of netizens defended her, arguing that she wasn't entirely wrong, as incidents of intoxicated men harassing women during Holi have been widely reported over the years across the country.

On Celebrity MasterChef, in which Farah is seen as a judge, the filmmaker had said, "Chhapri logo ka favourite festival hota hai holi."

Farah has not reacted to the controversy yet. She is currently seen on Celebrity MasterChef with chefs Ranveer Brar and Vikas Khanna as judges.
