Newcastle University (NCL) is deepening its academic and research links with India through a series of strategic alliances led by Vice-Chancellor and President Prof. Chris Day. The institution dispatched a delegation to India to learn about innovation in education and collaboration, organise alumni networking events, and forge relationships with top universities.

In order to further ease faculty and student exchanges, collaborative research activities, and academic collaboration, the NCL and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi plan to establish a Joint Centre of Climate Change and Resilient Infrastructure. With the GCRF Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub, NCL and IIT-D already had shared connections which are strengthened with this agreement.

For the strengthening of legal collaborations, student exchanges, and international legal education, Prof. Day also met with Prof. C. Raj Kumar, O.P.'s founding vice-chancellor. Jindal Global University (JGU). Moreover, NCL organised the inaugural NCL alumni network through alumni networking events in Mumbai and New Delhi.

The occasion discussed NCL's future goals and recognised its accomplishments in India. Also, NCL launched a new scholarship program for Indian students enrolling for the 2025 school year.

Mr. Kinner N. Sacchdev, an alumni of Newcastle University, underscored the strength of the NCL alumni network with the words: "It is capable of transforming careers and triggering a knock-on effect to encourage others." Prioritising long-term partnerships and increasing possibilities of faculty and student exchange, NCL is keen to continue to maintain its commitment to establishing firm academic and research linkages in India.
