Kolkata: The mystery over the deaths of two women and a minor at an apartment in West Bengal's Kolkata further deepens after the autopsy report revealed chilling details. Notably, the police got to know about the deaths from the husbands of the women. The deceased were identified as 44-year-old Romi Dey and 39-year-old Sudeshna Dey, 39, and a minor girl, Priyamvada. They were found dead on Wednesday.
Romi and Sudeshna had their throats slit and wrists slashed, while Priyamvada had bruises on her body and was suspected of having died of poisoning, reported The Times of India citing the autopsy report.
The police got to know about the deaths as they were investigating an accident case involving the deceased's husband and a minor boy named Pratip. The deceased - Romi and Sudeshna, were the wives of brothers Prasun Dey and Pranay Dey. Priyamvada was the daughter of Romi and Prasun. Meanwhile, Pratip is the son of Pranay and Sudeshna.
How Things Unfolded:
On Wednesday at around 3:30 pm, the car with Prasun, Pranay and Pratip crashed into a metro near the Avishikta crossing. At the time of the crash, the speed of the car is reported to be 100 km/h. All three survived the accident. They were immediately rushed to a hospital. However, when the police came to record statements, Pranay made a shocking revelation. He told the police that three family members were dead in his home in the Tangra PS area.
What Police Found At the Home:
When the police broke open the door of the house, they were shocked. Cops found the bodies of three females in separate rooms. The police also noticed bloodstains in the house.
In the autopsy report, it was found out that Romi and Sudeshna had their throats slit and wrists slashed Tangra PS area, reported TOI. Meanwhile, the minor girl had bruises on her lips and near her nose. Froth was also reportedly coming out of her mouth, which hinted at poisoning. As per the report, no traces of poison were found in the bodies of the two women.
What Led To The Situation:
The police suspect the financial crisis might be the reason behind the death and the two brothers taking the extreme step to take their lives. The brothers suffered a major loss during the COVID period. Manpower was reducing at their factory. A day before the death, "well-built men" were seen at Deys' factory and in the evening a business partner, Manoj Gupta, visited their home but did not get any response. Later, in the early hours of Wednesday at around 12:54 am, the two brothers along with Pratip seen leaving their home. They were captured on the CCTV installed.
The police are investigating all the angles.
