Actor Vicky Kaushal's latest outing, Chhaava, is now a certified hit! After a week of its release, the film has comfortably breached the Rs 200 crore mark, and it shows no signs of stopping. The film, which released on February 14, tells the heroic tale of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
According to reports, Chhaava earned Rs 22 crore on Thursday, which was the film's seventh day in theatres. And with that, the total box office collection of the film zoomed past Rs 200 crore. So far, Chhaava has minted Rs 219.75 crore.
Chhaava has been receiving love from the masses not just in Maharashtra, but across the country. The film became Vicky's biggest opener till date as it earned Rs 31 crore on its first day.
With no major releases this week, Chhaava is now eyeing the coveted Rs 300 crore club, and the feat does not seem impossible, given the buzz around the film.
Earlier, Vicky had penned a note of gratitude for his fans for the overwhelming response to Chhaava. "Dil bhar aaya hai aap sabka pyaar dekhkar...Thank you so much!", he wrote on Instagram.
"All your messages, calls… all the videos you all are sharing of your experience of watching CHHAAVA… I’m seeing it all… taking it all in. Thank you for all your love… Grateful to each and every one of you for celebrating the glory of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj (sic)," he had earlier mentioned.
Chhaava also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai and Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
Meanwhile, the film has been declared tax-free in Madhya Pradesh and Goa, and politicians as well as the audiences are now urging Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to declare it tax-free in his state as well.
