Mumbai: Valentine’s Day celebration possibilities are immense with social media giving a peep into innovative ways to woo partners. This year, the aviation industry seized the opportunity by providing aerial views of iconic locations, including Marine Drive, Gateway of India, Bandra Worli Sea Link, and other places.

These joyrides, starting from Juhu Aerodrome, were held on different routes comprising North Mumbai, East Mumbai, or South Mumbai starting from 15 minutes and extending to an hour. Whereas, the couples who opted for the ‘full Mumbai’ route, enjoyed the view of places like Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Malabar Hills, Haji Ali, and Powai Lake along with popular buildings like the Taj Hotel, Antilia, and Twin Towers.

While most aviation companies provide facilities through single-engine three-seater helicopters, Mumbai-based aviation service provider company Flyyo India provided joyrides in a three-seater Cessna-172 private plane along with an option to opt for the helicopter. While the private plane charges started from Rs 35,000 for 30 minutes, helicopter charges started from Rs 80,000 for 20 minutes.

Statement Of Managing Director Of Flyyo India

Talking to The Free Press Journal, Akash Nale, managing director of Flyyo India, said, “We provide joyride facilities on a daily basis but the demand on Valentine’s Day was very high. We had lots of inquiries but could facilitate only eight couples according to the joyrides allowed to us by the aviation authorities.”

While the joyride remains the same as any other day, aviation companies provide complimentary hampers and flower bouquets to their guests to make the day special. Nale also added that they provided paid pick-up and drop facilities by luxury cars exclusively to their customers who flew with them.

“The traffic issues increase in Mumbai during such occasions and festivals and whatever special plans you make, it becomes tiring to reach that place. Whereas the feeling of enjoying the city from above was surreal. I was planning to take my girlfriend on a joyride for a very long time and finally executed the plan this time. This was far better than any other gift I could give her,” said Vinay Shetty, a resident of Powai, who went on a joyride on Friday.
