India captain Rohit Sharma is set to return to action for India in the upcoming ODI series against England after a tough Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The first match will be played in Nagpur on Thursday, serving as preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy starting on February 19.

During the pre-match press conference when he was asked about his recent poor form, Rohit was visibly irritated, stating that ups and downs are part of a cricketer's career. He dismissed concerns, emphasising that each format and series is a fresh challenge.

Addressing speculations about his future in international cricket, Rohit brushed them aside, saying his focus is solely on the ODIs against England and the Champions Trophy. He added that such reports have been around for years, and he sees no need to clarify them now.

"What kind of a question is that? This is a different format, different time. As usual, as cricketers, we know there will be ups and downs and I have faced a lot in my career so this is nothing new to me. We know every day is a fresh day, every series is a fresh series,” Rohit Sharma said during the pre match press conference.

"How it is relevant that I talk about my future plans when there are three ODIs and a Champions Trophy. The reports (on my future) are going on for a number of years and I am not here to clarify those reports,"

"For me, the three games (against England) and the Champions Trophy are very important. My focus is on these games and I will see what happens thereafter," the India skipper added.

Rohit Sharma returned to domestic cricket after 12 years, playing for Mumbai against Jammu & Kashmir, but managed to score only 31 runs in both innings.

Though he has no plans to retire from international cricket anytime soon, reports suggest that the BCCI has asked him to clarify his future plans after the Champions Trophy.
