Various measures taken in Prayagraj for the preparation of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela were inspected via video conferencing as part of planning for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Nashik in 2027.

A detailed report has been sought from the Prayagraj administration, which will be studied before a delegation visits Prayagraj for an on-site inspection between February 13 and 15, informed Divisional Revenue Commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam.

A study will be conducted on past accidents in Prayagraj during the Kumbh Mela to identify risk areas and necessary precautions for Nashik. Officials also carried out an audio-visual inspection to understand crowd management strategies for the millions of devotees attending the event.

As per the instructions from Guardian Secretary Eknath Dawale during a recent review meeting, relevant departments have been directed to expedite land acquisition for Sadhugram. Additionally, officials have been tasked with gathering detailed information on the use of bamboo barricades, iron barriers, and kerbs for crowd control. Work on these measures has already commenced, Dr. Gedam stated.

The pollution of the Godavari River due to untreated water discharge is a major concern. In response, the Municipal Corporation has devised a long-term plan to address this issue. Priority is being given to completing essential work within the next two years, with a special focus on maintaining water cleanliness during the Parvani period through interceptive drainage systems, said Dr. Gedam.

While preparations are being made for devotees worldwide, Nashik residents often face difficulties accessing the Kumbh Mela. Acknowledging this, Dr. Gedam stated that plans will be made to facilitate the participation of local citizens. Additionally, authorities are considering providing transportation concessions, including pick-up services from various city bus stands and parking areas near the Parvani Sthan, ensuring smoother access for Nashik residents.
