Prayagraj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took a holy dip in Triveni Sangam during the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj amid tight security arrangements. PM Modi reached the Triveni Sangam via Arail Ghat route on the Nishadraj Cruise. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also accompanied the Prime Minister to the Maha Kumbh mela.

After taking the holy dip, the Prime Minister also did 'Rudraksh Jap' and offered prayers to the holy river Ganga. Notably, February 5 holds a great religious significance for Hindus, as the day will mark both Magh Ashtami and Bhishma Ashtami.

The Prime Minister also performed Ganga Aarti later in the day. Notably, PM Modi visited Prayagraj seven days after stampede during the Maha Kumbha in which 30 people lost their lives and 60 others were injured.

Maha Kumbh 2025, which commenced on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is the world's largest spiritual and cultural gathering, attracting devotees from across the globe. The Mahakumbh will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.

Earlier, during his visit to Prayagraj on December 13, 2024, the Prime Minister inaugurated 167 development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore, improving connectivity, amenities and services for the general public.
