The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) organized a citywide cancer screening campaign on World Cancer Day, offering free screenings to detect cancer at an early stage. A total of 267 citizens - 128 men and 139 women- underwent screenings at 14 Cancer Screening Centers, including Maa Saheb Minatai Thackeray Hospital, Nerul, and 13 Urban Primary Health Centers.

The initiative is part of NMMC’s ongoing efforts to provide early cancer detection and treatment. Since the launch of the screening centers on October 11, 2024, a total of 17,839 people - 6,764 men and 9,075 women - have been screened.

To further support cancer patients, NMMC, in collaboration with TATA ACTREC, established a 10-bed Day Care Chemotherapy Center at Maa Saheb Minatai Thackeray Hospital, Nerul, on January 17, 2025. The facility has already provided chemotherapy treatment to nine patients.

On World Cancer Day, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde urged residents to take advantage of the free screening services provided by NMMC’s Cancer Screening Centers. He emphasized the importance of early detection in improving treatment outcomes and encouraged citizens to prioritize their health by undergoing regular screenings.
