The Navi Mumbai Crime Branch and Kharghar local police are jointly trying to trace the two men who killed a 45 year old IT professional on Sunday night during a road rage incident. The two unidentified men and the deceased Shivkumar Roshanlal Sharma (45) had an altercation with each other over an overtaking issue which aggravated into a physical fight.

According to the police, the witnesses informed them that in a fit of rage one of the accused had started hitting Sharma with a helmet and then fled from the place. Sharma who then rode the bike for 1 km to police station of Kharghar and reported the incident, collapsed in the police station and was declared dead on admission to the hospital.

The incident happened at around 8.30 pm, 100 metre away from Utsav Chowk. Even as a witness had shot a video of the hitting, the face was not clear neither was the registration number of the bike clear. The cctv too has not captured clear images due to which it has become extremely challenging for the police to trace the accused, an officer privy to the investigations, said.

“When we back tracked the movement of the bike, we were able to trace the duo on bike to Vashi toll naka. It is clear that they were coming from Mumbai direction to Kharghar. We are checking more cctv footages to get some leads,” the officer added.

The police are still not aware of the actual reason of the fight as none of the witnesses saw how the fight started. Sharma could only manage to tell the police that the fight was about overtaking and the description of the accused.

Sharma stayed alone at Swanapoorti building, sector 36 of Kharghar and had been saying there since last two years on rent before which he stayed in Vashi in his own apartement. An IT profession, Sharma worked for NuSummit Technology in Vashi as Project Manager. Kharghar police has registered the case against the duo for murder under the BNS Act.
