Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state government has opened its coffers to give a new look to the city as crores of rupees are being spent on beautification, renovation and road repair work ahead of the upcoming Global Investors Summit (GIS) summit.
The government has tasked the Public Works Department (PWD) to carry out repair and beautification works of roads and give a facelift to VIP Guest House, circuit house, and Rest House . PWD has prepared a budget of Rs 67 crores to carry out 68 different works of such nature. The department is spending Rs 1507 lakh in 26 works related to repair and beautification of roads.
Likewise, Rs 2081 lakh is being spent on 22 works related to laying paver blocks and other road related works. A sum of Rs 2051 lakh has been earmarked for renewal and beautification of roads identified by Bhopal Municipal Corporation. A sum of Rs 707 lakh has been kept aside for repair and renovation of circuit house, VIP Guest House and Rest House. Industrialists from across the country and abroad and NRIs are arriving for the Summit scheduled for February 24 and 25.
City gets a makeover
Various agencies have been engaged in carrying out different works to beautify the city ahead of the summit. Special attention is being paid to stretch from Raj Bhawan to Indira Gandhi Manav Sangrahalaya- the venue of the summit. This particular pathway is undergoing a complete makeover.
Fork and tribal paintings and modern art work adorn the boundary wall of Raj Bhawan and other public properties. Paver blocks are being laid along the roadsides, and the iron lattice at the lower lake is getting a new coat of paint.
