Jaipur: The Ajmer Dargah Diwan Zainul Abedin has demanded to declare Ajmer as a national Jain pilgrimage site. The demand has been made to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in reference to the first death anniversary of Jain saint Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj who started his spiritual journey from Ajmer.

Dargah Diwan Zainul Abedin in his letter to PM said that India is a confluence of many religions and a rich spiritual heritage. This holy land has been the place of penance for countless saints, sages and great personalities, who have made invaluable contributions for the welfare of humanity.

“In this perspective, the city of Ajmer also has a significant place where on one hand the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti is the center of faith of devotees from all over the world, while on the other hand the temple of Brahma Ji further enhances its historical and religious prestige,” said Dargah Diwan adding that February 6 is the death anniversary of Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj who was known for his rigorous penance, sacrifice and human service. His great thoughts will always guide the entire humanity.

Diwan said that Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj has had a special relationship with Ajmer as he started his spiritual journey from Ajmer and should be declared a Jain pilgrimage site of national level. This decision will not only be a true respect for Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Maharaj, but will enrich the religious and cultural heritage of India and strengthen communal harmony not only among the Jain community, but all other religions and communities.
