Ever since Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, was unveiled, fans have been eagerly awaiting the movie, with the actor set to portray the fierce Maratha king, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Apart from Vicky, what grabbed eyeballs was Akshaye Khanna's chilling performance as Mughal Shahenshah Aurangzeb. Interestingly, it was recently revealed that Vicky and Akshaye never interacted with each other during the entire filming of Chhaava.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Laxman Utekar revealed that Vicky and Akshaye had never met before filming their intense face-off scene in Chhaava. "The day their scene together was to be shot was the day when they met each other for the first time and that too as characters."

Furthermore, Vicky mentioned that they did not exchange any greetings like good mornings, goodbyes, or hellos during the shoot as Akshaye portrayed Aurangzeb and he played Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. They went straight into filming their intense scene. "There was no communication as Vicky Kaushal to Akshaye Khanna." Vicky noted.

Kaushal shared that given the intensity of the scenes in Chhaava, they couldn't have been done by casually sitting on chairs next to each other, sipping tea, and then heading to the shoot when ready. "It didn’t happen organically either. I hope I get to chat with him after the movie’s release, but during the shoot, we never interacted with each other," Vicky said.

The director revealed that Vicky and Akshaye refused to interact with each other as they were so immersed in their characters, that they didn’t even want to see each other’s faces.

Vicky shared his experience of working with Akshaye, mentioning that there are moments between him and Khanna that will keep the audience eagerly anticipating their intense face-off.

Chhaava also stars Rashmika Mandanna in the lead. The film is slated to release on February 14, 2025.
