BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla has opened up on MS Dhoni's nature off the field, describing how he is a man of principles. One of the topmost dignitaries of the Indian cricket board, Shukla has also revealed that the retired cricketer doesn't even keep a mobile phone.
Dhoni's contributions have been unparalleled, having played for the national team from 2004-2019, featuring in 350 ODIs, 90 Tests and 98 Tests. He officially announced his retirement on August 15, 2020 and is the only skipper to win all three ICC titles - namely the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and the Champions Trophy.
Speaking to Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast, here's what the 65-year-old stated when asked the reason behind Dhoni's absence on social media:
"Unka nature aisa hai. Woh mobile phone hee nahin rakhte. Yahan tak ke BCCI ke selectors ko badi takleef hoti thi unko kaise approach karein. Maine dekha hai thode siddhantvaadi hain. Commitment ki jo baat hai bahut seriously lete hain. Koi chhichorapan nahin hai unmein."
("His nature is like that. He doesn't even keep a mobile phone, so even the BCCI selectors would be confused about how to approach him. He is a man of principles and takes matters regarding commitment quite seriously. He is not known for doing or talking anything silly.")
