Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A man in Gwalior lost ₹2.5 lakh cash kept in the trunk of his scooter to thieves, while he was away to buy momos for his kids, as reported on Monday.
The crime was carried out in less than five minutes, with the entire incident being captured in CCTV cameras installed in the locality.
After losing his money, the businessman rushed to the police station and lodged a complaint. On the basis of the same, police have registered a case. The police have also found the CCTV footage related to the incident in which the accused are seen taking out the cash from the vehicle.
According to information, the victim has been identified as Omprakash Gupta, an iron trader. On Sunday evening he was returning home after work from his shop in Lohia market. On his way back, he stopped at a corner to buy momos for his children. However, when he returned, he found his trunk open and his ₹2.5 lakh cash missing.
At present, the police are investigating the video to identify the culprits. The video shows two youths standing near the businessman's scooter. One of them is also seen opening the trunk and taking out money.
The police have started searching for the thieves on the basis of CCTV footage.
Additional Superintendent of Police Gajendra Vardhman said that a case of theft was registered after the complaint of the businessman. The businessman lost ₹2.5 lakh cash and some documents. The police are currently investigating the case.
Further action would be taken after the thieves are held.
