Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh): A bus full of devotees from Madhya Pradesh fell into a ditch near Satpura Ghat in Gujarat in the wee hours of Monday. Four people from Shivpuri district died on the spot while 35 passengers were injured.
The bus was returning from a pilgrimage tour of Nashik in Maharashtra when the driver lost control and it fell in a ditch near Saputara. Over 40 passengers were said to be in the bus.
The condition of 16 of the injured is said to be critical, and they have been admitted to Ahwa Hospital. One passenger has been referred to Surat.
Local police and villagers immediately started relief and rescue operations. All the injured were taken out of the bus and were rushed to the hospital. A special team of doctors has been deployed at Shamgahan CHC.
According to the information, a group of devotees from Shivpuri, Guna, and Ashoknagar districts of Madhya Pradesh had set out on a religious journey on December 23. These people were traveling to different pilgrimage sites in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. A total of four buses were deployed as part of the pilgrimage package. Of these four, one met with the tragic accident near Satpura Ghat, killing four on the spot and injuring 35.
