Mukesh Ambani was captured while breaking into rarely seen celebration during India vs England 5th T2OI match at Wankhede on Sunday. Ambani decided to stand up and clap for Abhishek Sharma when the southpaw smashed a six to reach his half-century off just 17 balls. The video of the same has gone viral on social media.
Abhishek showcased a fearless batting approach as he went after the England bowlers right from the first over. The towering sixes brought the fans on their feet as chants of 'Abhishek Abhishek' began to take over the stadium. The crowd were on their feet every time he was on strike.
The breathtaking display of batting saw the 24-year-old register the highest individual T20I score by an Indian, surpassing Shubman Gill’s 126*. He also shattered the record for the most sixes in a T20I innings by an Indian, launching 13 maximums to go past Rohit Sharma’s previous best (10). Abhishek's innings of 135 runs of 54 balls was laced with 13 sixes and seven fours.
The fearless batting helped India register their highest-ever T20I powerplay total of 95/1 and their highest total against England – 247/9 – surpassing the 224/2 set in 2021.
England suffer worst defeat in T20I
England suffered its worst defeat in history following the 5th T20I match against Mumbai on Sunday. Batting first, India put 247 runs on board for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing 248 runs for victory, England's batting lineup fell like a pack of cards and were bowled out for just 97 runs in 10.3 overs. With this, India won by a huge margin of 150 runs. The win was also India's second-biggest win.
In the bowling department, part-time bowlers Shivam Dubey and Abhishek Sharma of the Indian team took two wickets each. Mohammed Shami who returned to playing XI took 3 wickets for 25 runs in 2.3 overs. Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets for 25 runs, while Ravi Bishnoi took one wicket in one over.
