Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A gradual decrease of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in temperature is likely across the state in the next 72 hours. The drop is attributed to back-to-back western disturbances, which are causing a chill to prevail in the region.
Besides temperature drop, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for fog in several districts, including Mandsaur, Shivpuri, Datia, Bhind, Neemuch, Gwalior, Morena, and Sheopur.
Gwalior Airport reported a minimum visibility of 0 meters due to dense fog conditions. Bhopal recorded a day temperature of 28.5°C and a night temperature of 10.2°C, marking a 2.4°C drop. Indore saw a day temperature of 28.7°C, while its night temperature dropped to 12.1°C.
Other parts of the state also experienced dip in temperature, with Dhar recording a 2.6°C drop, while Nowgong, Rewa, and Jabalpur saw drops of 1.8°C, 1.5°C, and 1.5°C, respectively.
Meteorological officials have attributed the fluctuating temperatures to the cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan and West Rajasthan, while an additional cyclonic system is affecting parts of Northeast Assam.
These disturbances are expected to bring dense fog to isolated pockets in central India. Dr Ved Pratap Singh, Director of the Meteorological Department, said that the fluctuations in temperature will persist through the first week of February, while light to moderate fog conditions is expected to continue throughout the state.
