Worker Dies In Blaze At Biscuit Factory
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): One person died after fire broke out at a biscuit factory in Bhind district in the early hours of Sunday, police said. Gohad Sub Divisional Magistrate Parag Jain said that the fire broke out at about 5.30 am at the factory in Malanpur industrial area, about 60 km from the district headquarters.
About 80 workers were working in night shift at the unit at the time of the incident. One of them died due to asphyxiation. Eleven fire tenders, one from Indian Air Force, were part of the firefighting operation.
About 90 per cent of the blaze was put out. The official Jain said a short circuit could be a possible reason for the blaze. He said the losses might run into crores of rupees, as the blaze caused massive destruction and engulfed a 100-metre area.
Man Hangs Self Upside Down On Transformer, Rescued
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chaos prevailed on link road close to JP Hospital after a man climbed a transformer in an inebriated state and hung himself upside down on Sunday afternoon. Onlookers assembled at the spot causing a traffic jam like situation on the road.
Some locals immediately called the discom and got electricity supply stopped as the man could have died due to electric shock The drama continued for around half an hour before some locals climbed up and brought the man down from the transformer. Eye witnesses said that an ambulance was called to the spot for taking the man to the hospital but he refused and walked away from the spot.
Looter Held With Help Of Residents
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Alert residents helped police in nabbing a miscreant who snatched gold chain of a woman and tried to flee in Kolar area of the city on Saturday.
According to reports, resident of Danish Kunj area, Kamlesh Kumari (66) was taking evening walk on the main road with her neighbour when a youth approached her and snatched away her gold chain. The miscreant fled as the aged woman cried for help. Locals immediately responded to her cries and informed the police control room.
The cops rushed to the spot and launched a hunt for the miscreant. The cops and the locals cornered the miscreant at a deserted spot and nabbed him following a chase.
Police officials said that the miscreant has been identified as Bablu aka Pankaj Sarkar (22) of Piplani area. Police recovered the looted gold chain worth Rs 1.20 lakh from his possession. The accused has past criminal record and have cases registered against him.
