Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Union Budget 2025 focuses on middle-class relief, economic growth and financial empowerment. A significant highlight is making income up to Rs 12 lakh tax-free, benefiting millions. For those earning above Rs 12 lakh, new reduced tax rates will apply.
Additionally, senior citizens’ interest exemption limit has increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, offering greater financial security. In agriculture, the government has launched Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana to enhance farming activities and introduced a six-year 'Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses' to boost self-sufficiency.
For women, 5 lakh women entrepreneurs will receive term loans up to Rs 2 crore over five years. The fiscal deficit for 2025-26 is estimated at 4.4% of GDP and a new income tax bill is expected soon.
Public Reactions to Budget 2025
Shankar Garg – retired principal
The government should not have touched senior citizens’ savings. Many elderly people have old National Savings Scheme (NSS) accounts and now, with interest exemptions removed, withdrawals after August will not earn interest. These funds are meant for emergencies and this decision is disappointing.
Jyoti Garg – professor
The government always targets senior citizens and the middle class. While many things remain unchanged, I appreciate that the tax deduction limit on interest income for seniors has been doubled from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. This will definitely benefit us in the long run.”

This time, the middle class has finally received some relief. The government often overlooks us, but this budget has provided tax benefits and support for common people. Reduced tax rates and infrastructure development will definitely ease financial pressure on families like ours.
Ashwajeet Garg
As a middle-class citizen, I feel happy about the tax reduction from 15% to 10%. This will leave us with more disposable income to manage household expenses and savings. It is a positive step towards making life easier for millions of working-class families.
Khyaal Garg – college student
I appreciate the government’s initiative to invest Rs 500 crore in college infrastructure, especially forAI-related advancements. Many of my friends, including me, are pursuing careers in AI as it’s the future. This budget will make AI education more accessible and effective for students like us.
Chitransh Garg – class 9 student
I heard that government schools would become fully digital, with new technical and smart boards. This is exciting because learning will become more interactive and engaging. With digital classrooms, students from all backgrounds will have access to better education and resources.
