Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday slammed the union government for giving ‘nothing’ to West Bengal.

TMC national secretary Abhishek Banerjee alleged that West Bengal remains to be ‘deprived’ under the NDA led central government.

“There is absolutely nothing in the budget. This is more Bihar Assembly election-oriented budget as the election is this year. Bengal remains deprived even in the 2025-26 budget,” said Banerjee.

Banerjee also alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs from Bengal didn’t raise their voices despite being deprived.

“Previously BJP had 18 MPs from Bengal and now 12 MPs. But even then none have spoken about anything despite seeing that the state is being deprived. TMC MPs have been vocal and have sought a rise in the allocation of funds for central projects. We have demanded new projects for Bengal,” further mentioned Banerjee.

Amit Mitra, the principal chief advisor of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that the budget has nothing significant for women, youths and deprived classes.

BJP state president and MoS Sukanta Majumdar added that in Bengal the central schemes don't get implemented.

“New projects can be given if the central schemes get implemented. People of Bengal are still deprived of several central government’s schemes. In Odisha previously the government was our opposition even then several projects were given there as it got implemented. I would say the fight between the political parties should be till the elections. After elections the state government should cooperate with the central government for development,” added Majumdar.
