A massive fire broke out at a scrap market in Kurla on Saturday. Fire officials brought the blaze under control after nearly three hours of firefighting operations. Around 7 to 8 shops were gutted in the fire, but fortunately, no injuries were reported, confirmed the fire officials.

The fire started around 4:20 pm at scrap shops near the Equinox building in Kurla West. By 4:45 pm, it was classified as a level 2 (major fire). To manage the situation, four fire engines, six water tankers, and other support vehicles were deployed. A fire official stated that the large quantity of scrap materials in the shops contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.

Civic officials cordoned off the area to mitigate further risks, while efforts were made to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby structures. The fire was brought under control by 7:15 pm. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, with the fire brigade set to carry out a thorough inquiry into the incident.
