-The Union FM has concluded the budget after making her speech for nearly an hour and 15 minutes.
The biggest announcement from the budget came in the form of the new tax regime, in which, the income tax exemption has been extended from the current Rs 7 lakh to the new Rs 12 lakh.
This would mean that those earning up to Rs 12 lakh will not be liable to pay taxes.
- Tax on Focus
High TDS only to be levied on Non-Pan taxes. The threshold on TCS has be increased to 7 Lakh.
In addition, the FM also said that the new income tax, that will be introduced next be just, fair and simple, further aiding compliance.
- Life-saving Drugs Exempted From Customs
In a major move, the FM has announced and thereby exempted 35 life-saving drugs from the realm of custom dutys. Thsi brings the price of these life saving drugs down.
She also brought BCD or Basic custom duty on 6 living saving drugs to 5 per cent.

The FM said that the new income tax bill will be introduced next week
- FM Sitharaman's Focus On Bihar
After announcing the formation of the Makana Board for Makana farmers in Bihar, FM also announced new scheme for Greenfield airport in the state of Bihar, that goes to poll later this year.
The Patna Airport will be expanded.
Further farmers in Mithilanchal from a project on a canal system which will help farming in 50,000 hectares in Bihar.
- Udan scheme
Modified Udan (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme to be launched. The scheme was launched in 2016 to improve regional connectivity and making air travel more affordable.
- Focus On MSMEs
The FM has laid an emphasis on MSMEs in the country. She said that about 45 per cent of India's exports come from MSMEs.
She laid her focus on 7.5 Crore MSMEs.
The FM said she will increase credit access for MSMEs.
