A shocking video of veteran playback singer Udit Narayan has gone viral, stirring controversy amid the ongoing concert craze in India. The footage, filmed during one of his LIVE performances, shows the singer performing the hit song Tip Tip Barsa Paani on stage when he unexpectedly leans in to kiss female fans waiting for selfies.

The clip takes an even more surprising turn when Udit Narayan urges a bouncer to let a fan take a selfie before kissing her passionately. The unexpected act has left audiences stunned, with social media platforms flooded with reactions ranging from shock to criticism.

Netizens react to video, call it 'disgusting'

The viral video has sparked a heated online debate, with many users expressing their disappointment and concern over the singer’s actions. While some fans defended the singer, calling it an impulsive gesture, others slammed the move as inappropriate and uncalled for.

"Did not expect this from a senior singer like Udit Narayan," an X user wrote. Another stated, "Udit Narayan overstepped his boundaries, his behaviour was completely unacceptable and inappropriate."

"Chiiii yr …. If it’s for real, shame on u udit narayan," wrote another user.

"WTF! People pay you for singing not for this. Very gross. Not expected from someone like Udit Narayan. Why should we call them legends? They don't deserve to be called as legends," another angry user commented.

Reacting to the video, a user commented, "Udit's act was absolutely gross and vulgar. Don't know why so women wanted to kiss his cheeks."

"What the hell was that ? And why did more women kept allowing the behaviour after first attempt . The best part is people won’t classify this as serious groping because he is Udit . Shitty double standards of society," read another comment.

So far, Udit Narayan has not reacted to the now-viral video, and neither has his team issued a statement.

The singer has an exceptional repertoire and an unlimited number of successful songs to his name in his more than four-decade-long musical career. In his Bollywood playback debut in the film Unees-Bees in 1980, he got to sing with legends Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar.

In the 1988 film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, starring Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla, he made his mark with the song Papa Kehte Hain, which cemented his place in Bollywood playback singing.

He began his career as a folk singer for Nepal Radio, singing songs in both Maithili and Nepali. He has also been honoured with Padma Bhushan by the Indian government.
