Palghar, Maharashtra: The Dahanu Festival is back and bigger than ever. Organized by the Dahanu Nagar Parishad (DNP) in collaboration with local communities, the festival promises a refreshing escape to the coast. In its third editon, the organizers are anticipating a massive turnout of 5 lakh, a significant jump from the 3 lakh attendees last year, according to Ganesh Naik, Forest Minister and Guardian Minister of Palghar District. The festival, which began modestly with 1.5 lakh attendees in its first year, has quickly become a major attraction. This year, organizers are confident that the festival will be the largest yet.

Dahanu, known internationally for its chikoo (sapodilla) cultivation, is rapidly becoming a hub of growth. Naik emphasized the festival's role in the broader development of the region, envisioning Dahanu and its surrounding areas as a burgeoning hub, a "Fourth Mumbai."  He believes the festival will not only draw tourists but also act as a catalyst for economic growth and create greater opportunities. Naik also highlighted the upcoming Vandavan Port project in Palghar district, describing it as a crucial national asset that will generate substantial local employment and further stimulate the regional economy.
