Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A man was allegedly abducted a 14-year-old girl from his neighbour and raped her in a deserted area of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday night.

He then left the victim at the same spot and fled the scene. Frightened, the victim remained at the same spot, crying below a tree the entire night. 

The matter came to fore after the girl reached her home the next morning and narrated the entire matter in front of her family members. Her family then immediately took her to the police station and lodged a complaint. 

On the basis of the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of POCSO Act and Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. Later, the accused was arrested within 3 hours of the complaint.

Accused also threatened to kill the victim

According to information, the accused has been identified as Sohail, also known as Tasleem Khan, who resides in the same neighborhood as the victim in the Old Cantonment Police Station area of Gwalior.

Gwalior Additional Superintendent of Police Niranjan Sharmas said, the accused allegedly threatened the victim and took her to a deserted temple in Rairu village on Thursday evening. Here he raped the minor, when she objected, he also threatened to killing her and later, fled the spot. 

Station in-charge Kshama Rajoria has said that the accused was taken into custody within three hours of complaint. At present, he’s being interrogated. 

Further action would be taken on the basis of the findings of investigation.
