A hands-on telescope-making workshop was conducted at KTHM College, where students learned about astronomy and telescope making. After understanding the detailed mechanics of each component, the students successfully assembled a 5-inch diameter telescope and used it to observe the night sky.

The two-day workshop was organized by the Physics Department of MVP’s KTHM College in collaboration with the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune. A total of 150 students participated in the event, receiving expert guidance from Tushar Purohit and Maharudra Mate of IUCAA.

During the inauguration ceremony, Principal Dr SS Kale, Vice-Principal SR Shirsath, D ND Gaikwad, Head of the Physics Department Dr SN Ahire, and faculty members of the Physics Department were present.

Principal Dr SS Kale emphasized the importance of practical learning and expressed that building a telescope and observing the sky is a valuable experience for students. He also highlighted the significance of collaborating with a prestigious institution like AYUKA for such workshops.

Head of the Department Dr SN Ahire provided insights into the various activities conducted by the Physics Department, while Workshop Coordinator Sneha Buwa introduced the chief guests and outlined the objectives of the workshop.

Among the faculty present were Dr Nitin Pawar, Prof. Sudam Marathe, Dr Amol Rahane, Shailaja Khairnar, Sagar Bandgar, Sagar Parkhe, Sagar Nikam, Devyani Deore, Nisha Kushare, Vishal Shinde, and Shubhashree Bhamre.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Ganesh Mogal.
