The Delhi Police on Thursday detained Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal after she dumped garbage outside the residence of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in protest over cleanliness issues.
After being detained by the police, Maliwal told the media, "The whole city has turned into a garbage bin... I came here to have a conversation with Arvind Kejriwal... I would say to him, 'Sudhar jao, warna janata sudhaar degi'... I am neither afraid of his goons nor his police..."
Once known as one of Kejriwal's close aides, Maliwal has turned hostile towards the AAP and Kejriwal following an alleged assault on her at the Delhi CM's residence in May last year.
Since then, she has taken every opportunity to criticise Kejriwal and other AAP leaders.
Maliwal also claimed in an X post that "Coward Kejriwal" called the Delhi Police to his residence and had her arrested.
Earlier today, she had announced that she would go to Kejriwal's residence with three truckloads of garbage.
Speaking to news agency ANI, she said, "This protest is not against any party. Today, Delhi is in an unprecedentedly bad state. Every nook and corner of Delhi is dirty, roads are broken, and drains are overflowing. Women from Vikaspuri had written a complaint that a garbage dump has formed on the road, and despite complaining to the MLA, no one has taken any action to clean it up... I have come here to participate in the cleanliness drive that the women here had organized. We will take this garbage to Arvind Kejriwal's residence and ask him what to do with this filthy gift he has given to every area of Delhi... Kejriwal is no longer an Aam Aadmi... He has no idea of the ground reality of Delhi..."
