NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule visited the areas affected by Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) in Pune on Thursday. She inspected the water sources that supply water to locals and also interacted with the people, listening to their complaints.

Sule later took to X (formerly Twitter) and targeted the ruling Mahayuti government for failing to provide clean drinking water to the citizens. She wrote in Marathi, "An outbreak of GBS disease has been detected between Rajaram Bridge and Khadakwasla in Pune. Due to this, many people are sick and some are in critical condition. It seems that the virus of this disease is spread due to contaminated water. It is a very regrettable matter that this government is not able to provide at least clean drinking water to the people." "My humble request to the Guardian Minister, Municipal Commissioner and District Collector of Pune is that you should please take immediate measures to provide clean and pure drinking water to the citizens," she added.

Meanwhile, the total number of suspected cases of GBS in Pune and other districts of the state is 127 with 72 confirmed cases, the Maharashtra Public Health Department said in a press release on Wednesday.

"As of today, 127 suspected cases of GBS have been identified, with 2 suspected deaths.
