Mumbai: In the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse case, IPS officer Quaiser Khaild did not appear before the Mumbai AntiCorruption Bureau (ACB) office on Wednesday.
The agency had issued a summons in connection with a probe into the allegations made by a businessman of having paid Khalid and his wife’s business partner Mohammad Arshad Khan Rs 30 lakh, and sponsoring his hotel stay in the United States to get a hoarding contract at Dadar. Officials said the agency will issue fresh summons again.
The agency sources said that ACB had initiated an inquiry in July last year after receiving a complaint from a Saki Naka-based scrap dealer who also has a hoardings business.
Claims Made By The Compainant
The complainant, in his letter to the DGP, had claimed that he was introduced to Khalid in February 2022 when he was posted as the Government Railway Police commissioner. He also claimed that Khalid had allegedly promised a contract for hoardings at Dadar, and in 2022 he paid Rs 30 lakh cash and spent on Khalid’s US stay.
The complainant further alleged that Khalid initially told him he would return his money but later said that it would be adjusted in the hoarding contract, but this did not happen after which he complained to the DGP six days before the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse incident.
