Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh is expected to experience light rain (known locally as Mawtha) from February 1, with light rain predicted in some regions.

According to IMD Bhopal’s senior meteorologist Vedprakash Singh, a western disturbance will impact the state, leading to cloudy skies and occasional rain for the first four days of February. The regions likely to be most affected include Jabalpur, Gwalior, Chambal, and parts of seven divisions, while Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain may experience mild cold.

Weather in Madhya Pradesh at 11:20 am

Dr. Singh explained that northern winds are currently blowing across the state, and jet streams are active over Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh, western and northern Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. These factors have caused a drop in temperatures, which will remain low for the next two days. After that, the temperature may rise by 1-2°C.

Weather expected on Jan 26

Cold conditions will prevail across the state, especially during the morning and night.

Weather on Jan 27

The cold will continue during the day and night, with light fog expected in some cities.

New system activates from Jan 29

The western disturbance, expected to become active on January 29, will begin affecting the state two days later.

Weather in first week of Feb

Between February 1 and 4, rain is anticipated in eastern and southern Madhya Pradesh, particularly in areas like Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Sagar, Gwalior, Chambal, and Narmadapuram. However, the weather in Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain divisions will remain mostly clear.

Earlier this week, southeast winds had temporarily reduced the winter chill across the state, causing a noticeable rise in day and night temperatures. However, since Friday, the cold has returned, with temperatures dropping further on Saturday.

Residents are advised to prepare for colder conditions and possible rain in the coming days.
