Agartala: In a shocking incident, a woman from Tripura's Sepahijala district was allegedly assaulted by female members of a local Self-Help Group (SHG). The victim alleged that the attack was carried out over repayment of money she borrowed from the SHG. The accused not only thrashed the woman but also partially shaved her head, reported NDTV.

The woman belonged to the Lalsinghmura area of Bishalgar town. After receiving the information, police reached the spot and saved the woman, Cops brought her to the Bishalgarh Women's Police Station.

The in-charge of the Bishalgarh Women Police Station, Inspector Shiuli Das, is investigating the matter. As per Das, the attack was reportedly carried out by members of a local Self-Help Group (SHG).

According to the NDTV report, the victim claimed that around 15-20 local women barged into her home. She was in the kitchen at that time. The woman further added that after a brief conversation about her travel plans, the group dragged her outside the house and started attacking and abusing her. They even allegedly shaved her head partially. As per the victim, the attackers demanded their money back immediately.

A suo moto case has been filed by the police against 20-21 unnamed individuals under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), reported NDTV.

A detailed investigation has been lodged into the matter.
