Bollywood filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is the latest celebrity to criticise singer Jasleen Royal's opening performance at Coldplay's Mumbai concert. Jasleen made history as the first Indian artist to open for the British band. After Mumbai, she will also perform at the Ahmedabad concerts of Coldplay.

For the unawares, several concert-goers stated that Jasleen was a 'mismatch' for the vibe. Some went to the extent of calling her act 'unbearable' and 'out of tune'.

On Friday (January 24), 'The Kashmir Files' director Vivek took to his official X account and shared a video of Jasleen's performance at the concert. Along with it, he wrote that those in audience were more melodious than Jasleen.

"The audience is more sureela than these auto-tuned, Instagram-generated singers. Imagine if she didn’t have followers on Instagram, would anyone have even allowed her to audition for a mohalla singing contest?" he asked.

"Follower count over talent is the new norm," the filmmaker added. Take a look:

Jasleen has not reacted to the trolling and criticism yet. She is constantly sharing photos and videos from the concert on social media. The 33-year-old singer delivered the opening act on January 18, 19 and 21 at Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium. She is also all set to open Coldplay's upcoming concerts in Ahmedabad.

Recently, singer Antara Mitra also slammed those who selected Jasleen to open the concert. Before that, singer and music composer Vishal Dadlani had shared a note about an 'embarrassing' performance of a singer at a big event, however, he did not name anyone in his post. However, netizens felt he was talking about Jasleen's act.

Jasleen is known for crooning songs like Din Shagna Da (Phillauri), Love You Zindagi (Dear Zindagi) and Ranjha (Shershaah).
