Kolkata: Sector Commander level coordination meeting held between BSF and BGB to ensure peace and cooperation along Indo-Bangladesh border.

The Border Security Force (BSF) delegation was led by Tarun Kumar Gautam, DIG, Sector Headquarters BSF Malda, while the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) delegation was led by Colonel Mohammad Imran Ibne Rouf, Sector Commander, Sector Headquarters BGB Rajshahi and the meeting took place at BOP Sonamasjid, Bangladesh.

According to the press statement issued by BSF read, “The meeting also focused on ensuring effective border management. Recent concerns were also discussed in the meeting, including the incident at Sukdevpur border in Malda district on January 18, 2025. BSF reiterated its commitment to work closely with BGB to maintain peace and security along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both forces expressing their continued commitment to bilateral cooperation and border security.”

BSF on Thursday had also organized a civic action programme at ‘Gobardha High School in Gobardha in North 24 Parganas. The event aimed to empower border communities and promote sports among the youth.

Present at the occasion, Additional Director General BSF Ravi Gandhi said, “Empowerment of border communities and development of their youth is our priority. Such programmes not only encourage physical and mental development but also strengthen the spirit of patriotism and discipline in border areas.”
