Gujarat's Siddharth Desai broke a massive 65-year Ranji bowling record with nine wickets against Uttrakhand. The left-arm spinner picked up nine wickets and conceded 36 runs during round 2 of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 at the Gujarat College Cricket Ground A in Ahmedabad. He broke Jasubhai Motibhai Patel’s record of 8-21 set during the 1960-61 season against Saurashtra.

Siddharth Desai makes history for Gujarat

Siddharth’s first wicket came in the fifth over when he picked up Priyanshu Khanduri on the third ball of the fifth over. After dismissing Khandura, Desai quickly sent, Samarth R, and Yuvrah Choudhary back to the dugout in the space of four deliveries on his way to nine wicket haul.

Siddharth Desai's bowling figure is now the 3rd best in the history of Ranji Trophy. Haryana's Anshul Kamboj registered the best spell of Ranji history when he picked up all ten wickets against Kerala earlier this season.
