Thane: Firefighters in the Mira-Bhayandar area adjoining Mumbai cleaned bus stops on Wednesday night. A video of firefighters cleaning a bus stop also surfaced online. The video was shared by 'Mumbai News' on its 'X' handle. However, the exact location, where firefighters involved in the cleanliness work as seen in the video, was not known.

When Free Press Journal contacted the fire station of Bhayandar (East), an official said that the department received an order in this regard from higher authorities.

Similarly, an official at the Mira Road fire station said that firefighters were used for cleaning the bus stops under the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation because of the order by the civic body. The entire exercise was part of a cleanliness drive, claimed the official.

"We used to get information one week prior to carry out this drive," the official at the Mira Road fire department told Free Press Journal.

Notably, Mira-Bhayandar area is part of Maharashtra's Thane district.

Notably, firefighters are critical resources and are used to protect people from dire and other emergencies.
