IIT Madras is known for being one of the most premier of the elite IITs in India. IIT Madras is usually one of the highly placed institutions in international rankings.

IIT Director's Cow Urine Medicine

However, IIT Madras recently garnered the news for some strange reason, connected to its director Veezhinathan Kamakoti. Kamakoti recently made some observations surrounding cow urine.

Kamakoti praised Gow Mutra or cow urine and said, has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and digestive properties, and it is useful as a medicine for conditions such as the Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Many have reacted to this statement coming from the head of one India's biggest institutions. While many have criticised these comments, some have aligned themselves with supporting these comments.

One of the major names that have now come out in support is Zoho's Sridhar Vembu.

Vembu, known for his apparent penchant for traditional and Indian ways of living, came in support of Veezhinathan Kamakoti.

Profound Wisdom

Vembu was reacting to the comments made by another account, which criticised the comments, and said, "This nation will not be destroyed because of illiteracy. But intellectuals who are behaving worse than illiterates."

Reacting to this post, Vembu, shared his thoughts, and added, "This nation Bharat has profound wisdom the world is slowly coming to see."

Likening these ideas to technological evolution he said that as a civilization, we will holistically invent technology so that human life on this planet is in harmony with nature.

Vembu Attacks Rationalist

Taking a jab at rational-thinking individuals, the Zoho boss further added, "It is profound ignorance masquerading as the "rationalist" outlook that is using patterns of thought already being challenged in the West to attack our deep thinkers here. We will fight this fight."

Earlier he had added, "IIT Madras Director Prof Kamakoti is an accomplished researcher and educator.

He gave citations of scientific papers on the beneficial properties of cow urine. Modern science is increasingly recognising the value of our traditional insights."

Vembu further added," Online mobs are simply channeling their own prejudices, not based on any scientific insight.

Stay strong Prof Kamakoti. Don't give into the attack mobs.
