Delhi legislative elections are not too far away. The voting will take place on February 5. Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is pulling all stops to retain its near-total hold on Delhi Vidhan Sabha while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is looking to wrest control from AAP. Congress, the once dominant party is gearing up to salvage some pride after drawing a blank in previous elections.
Things are heating up and all three parties have released their manifestos. Here's how promises made by these parties compare on various metrics
On Cash Transfers To Women
This has become an important political strategy after it was perceived that 'Laadki Bahin Yojana' in Maharashtra played a huge part in securing landslide victory for ruling Mahayuti.
In Delhi, AAP has promised to increase monthly cash transfer to women to Rs 2100 per month. Women with family income of upto 3 lakh per annum will be eligible for the increased sum.
The government has already introduced Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana last year.
BJP has said that if it comes to power, it will provide Rs 2500 per month to women from low-income families under Mahila Samriddhi Yojana.
Congress has promised that if it forms government, it will launch Pyari Didi Yojana. The scheme will give Rs 2500 per month to women in low-income households.
On Electricity
In past AAP has got huge support from people of Delhi over their decisions about electricity provision.
This time, AAP has promised free electricity upto 200 units and 50 per cent subsidy rebate if the total consumption in month goes above 200 units.
BJP has said in its manifesto that the existing scheme will be retained.
Not wanting to stay behind in the race, Congress has promised 300 units of free electricity.
On Healthcare
AAP, in its manifesto, has said that under its Sanjeevani scheme, senior citizens will get free healthcare in government as well as private hospitals. No condition of income has been set to avail this benefit.
BJP is firm on its Aayushman Bharat scheme saying it will provide a health cover of Rs 10 lakh for senior citizens and poor families.
Congress has promised a health insurance cover of Rs 25 lakh to all Delhi residents.
On Public Transport
The AAP government already provides free bus travel for women. The party has now promised to give similar benefit to all male students studying in school and colleges.
The BJP has promised that the free bus rides from women will be retained if it comes to power.
Congress has not made any promise in this regard.
On Pension To Senior Citizens
AAP has announced expansion of its current pension scheme. The scheme promises that citizens between the ages 60 and 69 will get Rs 2000 per month. For those aged 70 and above and also those aged 60-69 from SC/CT and minority communities will get Rs 2500 per month.
BJP has promised increase pen scheme payouts. For those aged 6o-69, the payout will be increased from Rs 2000 to 2500. For those above the age of 70, the payout will increase from Rs 2500 to Rs 3000.
There hasn't been any promise in this regard from Congress.
On LPG Subsidy
AAP has not made any promise.
BJP has promise subsidy of Rs 500 per cylinder and has also promised free cylinder on Diwali and Holi.
Congress has made a significant promise in this regard and has said that if it comes to power, it will provide cylinder in Rs 500 and will also provide free ration kits.
Promises Unique To Each Manifesto
AAP
The party has promised Rs 5 lakh accident insurance, Rs 10 lakh life insurance. In addition to this, the government has promised Rs 1 lakh for wedding of each daughter.
Under Dr Ambedkar Samman Scholarship Yojana, AAP has promised that it will cover fees, stay and travel costs for Dalit students managing to secure admission for higher education in international universities.
The party's Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana promises Rs 18,000 per month to temple priests and granthis of Gurudwaras.
BJP
The party has promised Matru Suraksha Vandana Scheme which'll provide six nutrition kits and Rs 21,000 to pregnant women.
Through Atal Canteens, the party has promised nutritious meals to poor at Rs 5.
Congress
The Congress has promised Yuva Udaan Yojana which will provide Rs 8500 to youths without job for a year.
