Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The tableau of Madhya Pradesh for Republic Day Parade in New Delhi will be themed on ‘The Return of Cheetah’. It will showcase Kuno National Park. The Park houses 24 cheetahs brought from different African countries. Cheetah has returned to India 70 years after it went extinct.

The tableau is 38 feet X14 feet X16 feet and has been made using fibre, wood and iron.

Madhya Pradesh’s tableau is among the tableaus of 15 states, which have been selected for the prestigious R-Day event. This is the second consecutive year in which the state’s tableau has been selected.

Last year, the tableau from the state was based on women empowerment.  
Nodal officer in-charge of the tableau, Sanjay Saxena told Free Press that cheetah has returned to India after 70 years, which is a big achievement and a matter of pride for all Indians and especially the people of Madhya Pradesh. ‘We are showcasing this historic achievement through the tableau,’ he said. According to Saxena, the ceremonial department of the ministry of defence will generate a link on January 26 for voting for tableau. ‘The tableaus will get the first, second and third prize on the basis of likes,’ he said.  

As for the state-level R Day-event, tableaux of 22 departments of Madhya Pradesh Government, have been selected. They will form part of the celebrations at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal on January 26. The tableaux are based on the theme ‘Virasat se Vikas’.

Tableau of Urban Development and Housing Department will showcase Indore’s success in being named the cleanest city in India for the 7th time. The tableau of the Tribal Affairs Department will depict schemes for promotion of economic empowerment of tribal people through self-employment.

The tableau of Sports and Youth Welfare Department will focus on infrastructure for promoting sports in the state.
