Navi Mumbai: CIDCO, continuing to use a plot of land allegedly without any permission for parking of its official vehicles, has got a Navi Mumbai based citizen rights forum to stage a protest. The forum –Sajag Nagarik Manch has forewarned CIDCO to relinquish its claim over the land – failing the forum will launch an ‘external locking protest.
The land is situated adjacent to the CIDCO headquarters in Belapur, Navi Mumbai. Through the Right to Information (RTI) act, the forum had secured details about the parking facility used by CIDCO in Belapur. The land situated beneath a High tension line (HTL) was found to be not acquired by CIDCO.
“For the past 9 months we have been regularly corresponding with CIDCO seeking for the permissions or documents that permits them to use the land beneath the HTL for parking purposes. The administration has no permission or approvals from the local governing body or from the traffic department neither do they have any No objection certificate for operating the parking lot on the said land,” said the founder of the manch, Sudhir Dani.
The parking set up under the HTL according to the forum is stated to be violating the conditions laid down by the Electricity Regulatory Commission. In a letter addressed to the Managing Director, the forum has demanded from CIDCO to give up its claim over the land, stop locking the premises, withdraw the security guards, remove the makeshift sheds constructed on the plot and dismantle the CCTVS as well.
“Everything on the plot is illegal and unauthorised and these need to be removed. CIDCO has no rights to lock the premises and restrict entry to other vehicles when they are not the owners of the land. If the authorities fail to take action within the next 7 days the forum will themselves place a lock at the gate thereby prevent entry to the authorities,” said Dani.
The forum has also cautioned that if any legal or law-and-order issues arise due to this protest, CIDCO administration will be solely responsible. Officials from CIDCO refrained from commenting on the matter.
