The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has kicked off its Vision@50 City Strategy initiative with a series of stakeholder-focussed group discussions (FGDs). This initiative aims to outline a comprehensive development roadmap as PCMC approaches its 50th anniversary in 2032.

The inaugural session, held at the GD Madgulkar Auditorium in Akurdi, saw active participation from municipal officials from eight zones. Discussions centred around addressing urban challenges, identifying opportunities, and gathering actionable inputs for the city’s future development.

The Vision@50 City Strategy emphasises six key areas: urban mobility, environment and living, education and well-being, technology and governance, urban infrastructure, and economic development. By focussing on these domains, PCMC aims to foster inclusive growth, sustainable urban practices, and a forward-looking identity for Pimpri Chinchwad.

Deputy Commissioners Vitthal Joshi and Sachin Pawar, Assistant Commissioner Ajinkya Yele, Zonal Officer Sheetal Wakade, Amit Pandit, executive engineers, health officers among other officials from various departments attended the sessions.

Consultants from the City Transformation Office facilitated the discussions, providing questionnaires to participants to encourage innovative solutions and address anticipated challenges.

"Vision@50 City Strategy is an ambitious roadmap for Pimpri-Chinchwad’s development as it prepares for its 50th anniversary. By incorporating inputs from stakeholders, including officials, employees and citizens, this initiative aims to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth while addressing key urban challenges," said Vitthal Joshi, Deputy Commissioner, General Administration Department, PCMC.

"The success of the Vision@50 City Strategy depends on active participation and collaboration across all levels. By focussing on critical areas such as health, education, mobility and technology, we aim to create a robust framework for the city’s progress while making governance more transparent and citizen-friendly," added Sachin Pawar, Deputy Commissioner, Health Department, PCMC.

Stakeholder discussions to continue for six weeks

PCMC will conduct FGDs across all zonal offices over the next six weeks to engage a diverse range of stakeholders. Feedback, suggestions and solutions gathered during these discussions will be integrated into the Vision@50 City Strategy, ensuring a collaborative approach to sustainable urban development.
