Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The election to the post of BJP’s state unit president may be held after February 1. The election may be put off because of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s busy schedule.
The BJP has already held election of party presidents in some states. It was initially decided to elect the state president this month, and announced the names of the heads of 57 districts.
But the party’s central leadership has not announced any date for election to the post of state president. Yadav is going to Japan on January 27 and return on February 1.
Because the state unit president will not be elected in Yadav’s absence, the election will take place only after his return. Several senior leaders of the party have set their eyes on the state president’s election.
Since the BJP is the ruling party, its state unit president is considered very powerful. As the election to the state president is delaying, equations among the party leaders are changing.
Those who are aspiring for the post have intensified lobbying. Before electing the party’s national president, it is obligatory on the part of the BJP to elect 50% of state heads. Because of delay in election to state president in MP and other states, the election to the post of national president will be deferred.
