Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The body of 71-year-old Vandana Wadhwani, who passed away on January 17, was donated to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, fulfilling her last wish. Her husband Jawaharlal Wadhwani had passed away nine months earlier, on April 29, 2024, and his body was also donated to the same institution.
Vandana, a resident of Manoramaganj, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Despite immediate medical attention, she passed away before reaching the hospital. Her daughter Punita, who lives in Indore and her son Jayesh, currently recovering from a road accident in Canada, honoured her last wish. Unable to attend in person, Jayesh bid a tearful farewell via video call.
Vandana’s eyes were donated to MK International Eye Bank and her skin was given to Choithram Skin Bank. Her sister-in-law Dr Mona Dev shared that both Vandana and Jawaharlal were socially active and philanthropic, often expressing their desire to donate their bodies for medical research.
Before the donation, rituals were performed, including lighting a ceremonial fire near her feet and performing prayers for peace to her soul.
