Hundreds of body builders participated in the  Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Shri State-Level Bodybuilding Championship. 

The activity conducted by the sports and cultural affairs department of NMMC is envisioned as an ideal platform for body builders to showcase their features and muscle building prowess.

The title of the NMMC State Level Shri was won by Pune based body builder Shashank Wakade. The runner up position was secured by Panchakshari Lonar from Solapur district.

“The Sports and Cultural Affairs Department of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) organizes various sports and cultural competitions to provide a platform for athletes and artists from Navi Mumbai. One of the significant initiatives under this is the 'Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Shri State-Level Bodybuilding Championship,' which has been consistently organized since 1996. The event is envisioned to  provide emerging bodybuilders from Navi Mumbai with an opportunity to showcase their skills” said an official. 

The event also saw winners in categories like most improved body builder, best poser. Nilesh Dagade from Mumbai District won the 'Most Improved Bodybuilder' award, while Lakpa Lama from Palghar District received the 'Best Poser' title. Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the top six winners in each of the eight weight categories: 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, 80 kg, 85 kg, and above 85 kg.

The 'Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Kshetra Shri Bodybuilding Championship' was also held alongside the state-level competition. 

This year's competition was successfully conducted at Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium, with the participation of over 200 bodybuilders from across Maharashtra and Navi Mumbai. This included 125 participants for the state level competition and 80 for the local level. 

Similarly, in the 'Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Kshetra Shri Bodybuilding Championship,' Surendra Dangwal won the first-place trophy and the 'Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Kshetra Shri' title. Bodybuilder Prashant Gurav secured the runner-up position. 

In different weight categories—50 kg, 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, and above 70 kg—the top five winners in each category were awarded cash prizes and certificates.

Since 1996, the corporation has been organizing the state-level bodybuilding championship to encourage local bodybuilders and provide them with inspiration from top-level competitors across Maharashtra.

Present for the event was, Former MP and President of Navi Mumbai Bodybuilders Association Dr. Sanjeev Naik, along with the NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of the Sports Department Abhilasha Mhatre, Sports Officer Revappa Gurav, and several dignitaries from the bodybuilding fraternity, including Maharashtra Bodybuilders Association Secretary Rajendra Chavan, Vice President Gopal Gaikwad, Office Bearer Sharad Marne, and Secretary of Navi Mumbai Bodybuilders Association Hemant Khebde, along with other officials from both associations.
