A lady doctor ended her life by suicide after finding herself cheated by a person connected on a matrimonial site, who posed as an unmarried man and promised to marry her soon.

Taking advantage of her trust, the accused took Rs 10 lakh from the victim while hiding his marital status. The incident took place on January 7 at Tuljabhawani Society in the Bibwewadi jurisdiction.

The accused has been identified as Adinath Sawant (30), a resident of Sangli.

According to the police, the lady doctor, identified as Pallavi Popat Phadtare (25), was lured by the accused. Despite being married, Kuldeep registered on the website Jeevansathi.com, pretending to be single. Pallavi’s father met Kuldeep at Dehu but did not find his behavior suitable, so he rejected Kuldeep.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep connected with Pallavi without her father's knowledge.

Pallavi left a suicide note

Pallavi, who had completed her education as doctor, was running a clinic at Dehu Road. Kuldeep convinced her to give him Rs 10 lakh under the pretext of marriage, offering various reasons for delays over time.

However, when Pallavi insisted on marriage, the accused revealed that he was already married and his wife was pregnant.

Upon learning the truth, Pallavi suffered mental trauma. She requested her money back, but Kuldeep began avoiding her.

Unable to cope with the trauma, Pallavi wrote a suicide note and ingested poisonous medicine at her clinic, leading to unconsciousness. She passed away on January 8 during treatment. In suicide note she apologized her family members and said that they don't deserve a daughter like her.

Shankar Salunke, Senior Police Inspector at Bibwewadi Police Station, spoke to FPJ and said, "We have registered the case, and the matter is under investigation. The accused have not been arrested yet. We are doing technical analysis, after which action will be taken. "

Regarding the matter a case has been registered under section 306 of Bhartiya Nayay Sanhita in Bibwewadi Police station.
