Emergency Box Office Collection Day 3: Kangana Ranaut starrer Emergency is undoubtedly one of the first big releases of the year. After getting delayed multiple times, the movie finally released on 17th January 2025, and received mixed to positive reviews from the critics as well as the audiences. Kangana's performance in the film as former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, is being appreciated a lot.
Talking about the box office, the movie took an average start on day 1 with a collection Rs. 2.50 crore. There Cinema Lovers Day celebrated on 17th January, so the ticket prices were just Rs. 99. With such less ticket pricing, it was expected that the movie will get a better opening. At least, an opening of Rs. 4-5 crore was expected, however, that didn't happen.
But, with positive word of mouth and reviews, Emergency surely showed a good jump on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, it collected Rs. 3.60 crore, and on Sunday, the collection was approx. Rs. 4.35 crore, taking the three-day total to Rs. 10.45 crore. With a good growth, Emergency has collected a decent amount in its first weekend. However, a bigger number would have been a better result.
If we look at the first weekend collection of Emergency, the movie has performed much better than Kangana's last three Hindi releases, Tejas, Dhaakad, and Thalaivii (pandemic release), and it is currently on the lines of the actress' 2014 super hit Queen. However, one cannot ignore the fact that the budget of Emergency is quite higher than Queen.
Now, all eyes on Monday's box office collection. If the film does anything near to what it collected on Friday, then the first week numbers can be decent. However, if there's a major drop in Monday's collection, then it might be difficult for the movie to sustain further.
Also, Emergency is not having a bigger window as on 25th January 2025, Akshay Kumar starrey Skyforce is slated to hit the big screens. So, let's wait and watch what will be the fate of Emergency at the box office.
