Kalyan: The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation has started a free Physiotherapy and Multidisciplinary Rehabilitation Center for disabled citizens at no cost. A 7000 square foot Physiotherapy and Multidisciplinary Rehabilitation Center was established in the Sanglewadi area of Kalyan. It was inaugurated by MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde in the presence of Indu Rani Jakhar, Commissioner of the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation.

The KDMC officials said that they started the unique initiative to establish a physiotherapy and multidisciplinary rehabilitation centre for disabled people or those in need who cannot afford private hospitals.

According to the civic officials, disabled people will receive free treatment if they register at the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation for physiotherapy and other health issues. Moreover, those who have not registered and are outside the jurisdiction of the KDMC region can still get benefit from health facilities by paying Rs 500.

The civic officials said that around 3,500 special disabled people are receiving a disabled pension of Rs 2,500 each under KDMC. This center will be run by medical experts, including trained physiotherapist, under the social development department of the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation. Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Jadhav from KDMC said, "So far, around 5,500 special disabled and mentally challenged people have registered with KDMC, and they can benefit at no cost.

MP Shrikant Shinde from Kalyan said, "The special disabled people, including speacial children, will receive benefits from this center. We will try to bring advanced facilities to the centers."

The civic officials said that they provide orthopedic consultation, neuro consultations, medical consultation, Ayurveda consultation, naturopathy consultation, physical therapy, and yoga.
