In an effort to support Indian women in STEM, the Duolingo English Test (DET) has announced the opening of the DETermined scholarship. This was revealed at a press conference in New Delhi by Severin Hacker, the CTO and co-founder of Duolingo. This was introduced by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) GoI in partnership with the Duolingo English Test (DET).
Applications will be available on the Manthan portal starting in June 2025. When completing their applications, applicants should indicate their DET score of 120. They should have a solid academic background and offer a paper outlining their vision for STEM fields.
Scholarship Amount:
USD 30,000, given as a one-time tuition reimbursement.
Eligibility criteria:
It is solely available to Indian female.
A bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or a comparable degree, is required.
She should possess leadership abilities and a desire to use her credentials to benefit India.
For STEM postgraduate programs at US colleges that accept DET applicants.
Selection process:
Application phase, STEM impact project challenge, and final interview.
According to the official statement, "taking the DET is a valuable tool in pursuing academic dreams, especially for those applying for the DETermined Scholarship, as it allows students to gain admission to over 5,500 programs worldwide."
